Nieuwendam, Arnold, E 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in Brandon, FL. He was formerly a Customer Service Representative, Telex Communications Operator and an International Cruise Tour Guide for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Arnold was president of the Suriname American League in New York City for decades. Upon his retirement from the Royal Dutch Airlines he relocated to Brandon, Fl where he started the Faya Lobi organization to maintain the Surinamese culture in Florida. Nieuwendam, Arnold, E 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in Brandon, FL. He was formerly a Customer Service Representative, Telex Communications Operator and an International Cruise Tour Guide for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Arnold was president of the Suriname American League in New York City for decades. Upon his retirement from the Royal Dutch Airlines he relocated to Brandon, Fl where he started the Faya Lobi organization to maintain the Surinamese culture in Florida. Arnold was also a Veteran of the US Army National Guard and the Dutch Merchant Marine, a Civil Rights Activist, Historian, and Lecturer. He loved to cook, garden and most of all, his family. Arnold was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Gloria M. Nieuwendam and is survived by his son, Anthony E. Nieuwendam and wife Solveig, his grandchildren, Simone D. Nieuwendam and Sabiene R. Nieuwendam, and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at Stowers Funeral Home on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 2 pm.
